Sweet, Not So LightBritain is a nation of tea drinkers. The UK Tea Council recommends four cups of tea per day as part of a healthy diet. Many people I know drink a lot more than that! But let’s use that as our average.

If you sweeten your tea (or coffee) with sugar then replacing that with a non-calorie sweetener is a very easy way to ditch quite a few calories. A teaspoon of sugar has about 15 calories. Let’s say you have two teaspoons per cup of tea, four times per day.

4 x (2 x 15) = 120 calories.

Over a week, that equates to 840 calories, or 3,600 per month.

If you switch to sweetener - an inexpensive and convenient alternative - you can reduce that number to zero.

Many varieties of sweetener are available, some of which taste identical to sugar. Indeed, after a while of consuming hot beverages with sweeteners, having a cuppa with sugar leaves a strange sensation in your mouth - it sticks to your teeth, like syrup. Which, of course, is basically what it is.

Total Possible Saving Per Month: 3,600 calories.
